Club 2606 Party Mix - Tracklist

In preparation for a July 2nd house party, I have prepared a party mix compilation. Rather than mix the set, I have simply strung together a list of songs that are each played from beginning to end. The advantage of this system is that listeners can fast forward through songs they may not like (if any). Compilations are also easier to prepare.

As usual, I have included songs that I'm currently enraptured with ranging from mainstream to off-the-beaten trail; from hip hop to reggaeton to German techno to 90s Eurobeat.

Peep these liner notes:

Club 2606 – A Patriotic Dance Party Mix – Fourth of July Weekend 2005
Compiled by DJ Jagged

Jeff J. raises the bar in 2005 by hosting a fourth of July weekend house party with a bulging guest list. His 1,200 square foot monster addition has been retrofitted into “Club 2606”, a dance hall to be filled with driving techno beats, hypnotic trance and titillating hip hop as interpreted by the Tri-State area’s finest DJs. This compilation is designed to capture the flavor of the dance floor and spirit of Club 2606. Come one, come all!

Track Listing / Liner Notes:

1 America the Beautiful - Whitney Houston. First, let’s pay our props to this great nation of ours, sung by a classic American underdog.
2 Baby, Baby - Corona. A 90s Eurobeat winner sung by the sultry Corona.
3 Tonight is the Night – Le Click. Yes, tonight is the night!
4 Just a Lil’ Bit – 50 Cent. Get crackin’ in the club, rollin with 50 Cent and the G Unit… at least just a lil bit.
5 Hollaback Girl – Gwen Stefani. Club 2606 is the real bananas.
6 Badd – Ying Yang Twins with Mike Jones. This breakout tune has been thrown into the mix. Houston’s swiftest hustler, Mike Jones, is a name to put in your Rolodex.
7 Sing Hallelujah – Dr. Alban. Dr. Alban is where dancehall reggae meets mainstream dance… with top shelf results.
8 Pon de Replay – Rihanna. Rihanna wisely showers her DJ with accolades in this punchy dance tune.
9 Gasolina! - Daddy Yankee. An excellent representation of “Reggaeton”, a breaking musical style that fuses hip hop, reggae and Caribbean urban culture.
10 Shake It – Marascia. Tribal house music with a Latin percussion section off the hook.
11 Goin’ Crazy – Natalie. Take a breather for a slow dance with that special someone.
12 The Power – Snap! Revive, with Red Bull and some Snap!
13 Hell Yes – Beck. From Beck’s new album, “Guero”, this song lends itself to breakdancing or just posing.
14 Give Him Cornbread – Beau Jacque and the Zydeco Hi Rollers. Order a Hurricane or three and stroll Bourbon Street to the festive Zyedeco musical style.
15 Electrica Salsa - Artist Unknown. This was a staple song from the pinnacle of a disco called Dorian Gray located inside the Frankfurt airport.
16 Ride the Last Train – Young Parisians feat. Ben Lost. Plucked from a recent Paul Oakenfold mix tape, this song captures the bittersweet experience of clubbing with lines like “I’ll love you until I’m dead inside”.
17 Dream I Had of You – Artist Unknown. A haunting goth ballad that will hopefully capture your imagination.
