Dining with a 2 year old

This evening I dined at one my favorite local Chinese restaurants. My son, "Z" decided to act out. Infractions include, but were not limited to, escaping from his high chair, shouting, and staring down other children. Where does this aggression come from? He is exhibiting the traits of a bully.

The appetizers were excellent - scallion pancakes and beef teriyaki sticks. The main course, tofu and mixed vegetables felt a little soggy to the norm, but was still very good. My friend, Gregg, visiting from Crooknon, had a spicy serving of Hunan lamb and gave it high marks.

I spent a couple of hours today cataloguing and organizing my music collection. Ma Warina enjoyed "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" by the Platters and some of the Lawrence Welk old school instrumentals.

The Manahawkin Sweet 16 is back on for June 12th. Word. Blog on everybody!!!

Slow Week

Well, it was a slow week in terms of new bookings. Had some wedding inquiries, but they came and went. No closings. Winter is slow time for mobile DJ'ing and I'm just eager to get back out on the party circuit. Winter's been a good time to clean up my music collection and plan for the new year. Gotta live off my accumulated fat in this hibernation season. The thaw shall come soon. Word.

Checked out the soundtrack to Train Spotting this week. Some depressing tracks with a new vibe. Doubt that I'd throw any of these tracks into my playlist, but I know this movie is popular among many.

I've been grooving on the www.nigelrichards.com NYE mix. Peep out his new website and listen to his streaming sets.

A Comment about My Writing Style

A friend of mine e-mailed me this morning as follows:

"Whole-lamb,

I came across this paragraph in a book I 'm reading which seemed to me an accurate assessment of your literary style-allow me to share:

There is usually little in the way of connected argument; often it is downright hard to see what the relationship is between a paragraph and the two on either side of it. The writing is self-evidently distinguished-full of wonderful similes, metaphors and examples, and often offering immediate and startling insights, and yet is difficult, at least at first, to see what the point of it all is. "
An accomplice of mine chimed in:
"Most of us despise other drivers on a highway.
They are going either too slow or too fast for our liking.

In life, it's the same.
We watch others going too slow or too fast, relative to our current position...
and we despise them as well."
Was he implying that I am going too fast or slow, or that we are on similar courses?

Purpose of this Blog

Greetings. This is DJ Jagged checking in. I decided to create this blog to keep track of and share my musical thoughts with the world.

Intended purposes include:
- Discussion of my current musical influences
- Songs that are and are not working on the dancefloor
- Discussions of my evolving mix technique
- Reviews of parties and hopefully lots of funny anecdotes too
- Pictures and audio clips to gain a multimedia appreciation
- Writeups of other family and social events not necessarily related to DJ'ing

Sound fun? I sure hope so.
